After the ceremonial start held yesterday evening at the Paseo Jaume I, in Salou, with the 70 vehicles entered and authorised by scrutineers, participants are ready to take on the first stage of the RallyRACC. Cars will make two runs in the three special stages of the day: La Mussara (20.48 km), Querol (21.26 km) and El Montmell (24.14 km), so far under a dry and sunny weather.
PortAventura’s brand new Convention Center plays host to the headquarters of the RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España. Today’s busy program includes some VIP visitors: FIA presidential candidate Jean Todt, flanked by Carlos Gracia, current President of the Spanish Motor Sports Federation and also candidate for FIA Deputy President will be at the HQ at 10.30 am. This afternoon, at 13.45 pm, another FIA presidential candidate, Ari Vatanen, will visit the HQ alongside Fernando Falcó y Fernández de Córdova, Marquis of Cubas, his candidate for the presidency of the Senate.
This year’s Tour de France winner, Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador (Astana Cycling Team), is also expected the Spanish WRC championship round. He will be visiting the first service today, at the Citroën Total area, at 12.38pm.
