Paraglider arrested drunk on beach in Salou
Salou local police arrested a man on Sunday for paragliding with visible signs of intoxication on the beaches of the Salou. He was seen by swimmers and officers, flying near buildings and electrical wiring and making low flights over the sand. The offender, a local man Segrià 42, was arrested for not following the rules of conduct for gliders.
Gravel and Asphalt for the Catalunya Rally
The organisers of the Catalunya Rally have announced a mixed-surface opening day and a final day which includes two runs through a 26-mile stage.
The October 22-24 event, which is based in Salou, will start with an opening day comprising two stages which run on gravel and asphalt, and one completely loose surface test.
For the first time in the history of the modern era of the World Rally Championship, the teams are likely to start Friday with a car in gravel specification and finish it in asphalt trim.
The Saturday and Sunday stages are all asphalt. The pre-event shakedown has been moved closer to Salou and altered to reflect the split nature of the event. The 1.8-mile stage is now part-gravel and part-asphalt.
Clerk of the course Aman Barfull said: "We are and we want to continue being an asphalt rally, but we have included a mixed day. This new rally concept benefits the show, both for spectators and for the media. And it follows the guidelines of the FIA, requesting organisers to provide for novelties and to contribute in order to raise the interest in the WRC.
"The rally consists of eight stages run twice in three days, totalling 792 miles, of which 220 are competitive."

Salou and Cambrils house prices and rental costs one of the highest in Catalunya
The figures in the report submitted by the fotocasa.es real estate portal, one of the most important market are clear. Cambrils, an increase of 4.9% over last April, was the Catalan population in which more increased the price of rented housing. Salou, with 2.7%, was the second. Nevertheless, both Cambrils, as Salou, have significant surplus of rental housing, which draws attention in light of this growth. The car also has become one of the formulas currently used by owners unable to sell their homes.
According to data provided by the Departament de Medi Ambient i Habitge of the Generalitat of Catalonia, between 2008 and 2009, Tarragona was the city that grew most rental contracts, doubling in number. In the case of Cambrils, went from 483 to 593 contracts on the same date. The trend showed a decrease in the average rental price, which stood at the Camp de Tarragona, around 698 euros, in 2009, almost twelve per cent less than in 2008, returning data to contrast with the growth has occurred in the heart of the Costa Daurada.

Ash cloud brings more disruption to Salou
Another week of flight chaos is heading the UK's way after that annoying ash cloud from Iceland has once more closed the skies over parts of Britain.
A no-fly zone has been imposed on parts of Britain by air traffic chiefs above parts of Northern Ireland until at least 1 pm today after the “high density” cloud approached the province from the north west.
Flights to and from Belfast International and Belfast City airports, and Ronaldsway airport on the Isle of Man have been cancelled until at least 1pm, with more possible airport closures expected on Monday.
The ash could close some of the busiest airports in southeast England until Tuesday, the transport department warned yesterday. At greatest risk today are Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Salou - The perfect day out.
Plenty of things to do in Salou while the sun is shining. Have a wander down to Levante beach, hire a sun lounger from one of the many Chiringuitos along the beach. I prefer to visit Chiringuito Leon where you always get a friendly smile and welcome, with the added bonus that from there you can see and hear the nutty antics of Dany the mentalist prop from La Sal.
After a couple of beers or coffee's at the Chiringuito, take a stroll down to windy piont (the end of the promenade near the steps) stop on the way and have a chat with John, the prop at Los Chicos (always has a tale for you) then arrive at the Rinconcito del Mar where they provide the best Sangria in Salou, along with the super friendly hospitality of the owners Manel, Sole and Maria you can sit and chill, and wait for the most beautiful sunset, from the best view point in Salou.

World Rally 2010 SALOU
From the 21st to the 24th October 2010 Salou will once again become the center of attention for the world's car rally fans.
The route and details of the Rally Catalunya-Costa Daurada 2010 will be announced next May 18 in a presentation to be held in the auditorium of the RACC, in Barcelona. What we do know is that both Salou and PortAventura once again will serve as a base of operations.
For the sixth consecutive year, the World Cup again will stop in the province of Tarragona. It will be the twelfth test schedule, the penultimate, so there is a very good chance that we will see the new champion here in Salou.

Salou Businesses report a loss for municipal works.
"Who would have thought that they would start municipal work in early May?" Asked Marta Toledo, The paddock restaurant owner and one of the last affected by the work consisting of wiring for new streetlights and repair sidewalks in the street Punta Salou's Cavall. Like her, half a dozen shops have joined the outcry by not understanding either the timing or effectiveness of measures to improve lighting on the street.
Marcel Vos, who runs the Big Ben, explains that he has closed to the public "for most of the time in which the works were carried out." The owners of the various establishments claim that, because of these municipal works which started on April 30, "We have suffered serious economic damage", not quantified. Marta Toledo as an example said that "with the dust raised by the works, all the tables and the chairs are filled with dirt. Many clients go look in and end up walking away business because of the mess that they see. Did no one understand that these works could have been done in November or that could have been delayed until the end of the tourist season? ".

For Elena Monica Benayon, a resident of the area, "there are businesses that do not cover expenses. What does it mean? If a business does not trade, and tell me how you pay the bills. " Traders claimed also that "the work on the sidewalks is not cordoned off. So, while they continue to errect electricity and telephone poles no cars or children or handicapped chairs can pass. "
For its part, the City acknowledges having met with those involved and said that the issue will be resolved in early June. "We understand the position of merchants.
